Where are the holiday courses offered? All courses are run at our own Centres and are based at Kilve Court or The Outdoor Centre.
What times of year? We always offer an extensive Summer holiday programme and may offer Easter opportunties also.
What types of courses are offered? Some of our courses are based on adventurous activities, such as climbing, kayaking and sailing, and use a variety of locations around our Centres. Others are more locally based and may stay largely on-site at a Centre to do activities such as archery, high ropes and grass sledging. Other courses are far more art, drama and science based. There's lots to chooose from!
Who leads the courses? Either our own staff or tutors who have worked with us on many occasions.
What if a child/young person doesn't come with friends? No problem! We try to make sure everybody makes new friends really quickly. This includes the people they share a room with who will also be part of their holiday course. We also have members of staff on duty through the week to help ensure all the non-activity time is well-structured and the young people feel safe.
How much do the courses cost? This depends on the type of course; we have a wide variety of charges and each is course specific. However, we believe our courses offer fantastic value and are very competitively priced.
What about health and safety? All Centres operate within the guidelines set down by Somerset County Council for safe conduct of visits and activities, and all recommendations and directives are incorporated into Centre policies. This ensures that all activities take place under the instruction of appropriately trained and qualified tutors and use appropriate, properly maintained equipment. Each activity is risk assessed and the Centres are also licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority. All staff have been cleared via the Criminal Records Bureau process.
